Mrs. Merry Jon Howell Mrs. Merry Jon McMinn Howell, 68, former employee of the Maury County Election Commission and former Registrar at Large, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at her residence on Conant Street. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. David McGregor officiating. Burial will be in McCains Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2 - 6 p.m. at the funeral home. She was married to Jimmy Acton Howell who preceded her in death on January 2, 1994. Mrs. Howell was a member of McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Wagon Wheelers, and was a lifetime award winner of Riverside PTA. Survivors include two sons, Stephen (Linda) Howell of Huntsville, Alabama; Todd (Sharon) Howell of Pulaski; two daughters, Jill (Philip) Grooms of Athens, Tennessee; Holly Howell of Columbia; one brother, Joel S. McMinn of LaGrange, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Laura Howell, Jim Howell, Ben Howell, Katherine Howell, Michael Howell, Taylor Howell, Greg Howell, Joshua Grooms, and Kara Grooms; two great grandchildren, Samuel Howell and Arianna Howell; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two children, Michael Howell and Kimberly Howell; two sisters, Carolyn McMinn and Elaine Vernon; and two brothers, Harold McMinn and Wade Minn. Pallbearers will be Jerry Church, Jim McMinn, Lance McMinn, John Vernon, Jim Howell, Joshua Grooms, Ben Howell, Michael Howell, and Eugene "Satch" Layne.
