Michael David “Mike” Hawkins, 60 passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 in Hurtsboro, Alabama. A funeral service will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Terrel Pitts officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences maybe extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born on November 23, 1958, he was the son of Johnnie Eugene Hawkins and the late Janet Louise Richardson Hawkins. Mike graduated from Campbellsville High School in 1976. He worked for Stauffer Chemical, Occidental Chemical and Construction Enterprise, Inc. Mike loved working for CEI and was especially close to owners, Bill and Debbie Landers. Mike was a friend to all, always ready to lend an ear; offer encouragement, and lift up anyone who was down. He loved the Plantation “God’s Country”, horses and his constant companion, Berlin. To know Mike was to love him. He was always the one whom you could rely on to stand by his words. If he said he would help he did. Mike loved his grandchildren and all of his great nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Johnnie Hawkins; survivors include his daughter, Stacy Hawkins Rich (Jason Riddle); granddaughter, Caitlin Peterson; grandson, Raylan Rich; brothers, Johnnie Ray (Wendi) Hawkins, Marty Wayne (Sonya) Hawkins; sister, Sandra (James) Ables; nieces, Amanda (Marc) Presley, Samantha (Allen) Clark; nephews, Cliff (Karie) Hawkins, Bear (Kristie) Hawkins, Andrew (Leah) Hawkins, Travis Smith; and extended family, Danny “Porkchop” Legarrea, Stevie Legarrea, Roberto “Tito” Bojorquez, Fabian “Fab” Bojorquez, Nick Westmoreland, Tim Kennedy, Steve Legarrea, Ruben Morales, Tony Morales, Anthony Legarrea, Andres “Dre” Bojorquez, Augustin “Augie” Legarrea, Alisha Legarrea, and Carmen Bojorquez. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Lee Hawkins; grandparents, Finas and Edna Hawkins, and Harley and Ara Richardson. Active pallbearers will be Cliff Hawkins, Bear Hawkins, Andrew Hawkins, Travis Smith, Danny “Porkchop” Legarrea, Stevie Legarrea, Roberto “Tito” Bojorquez, and Fabian “Fab” Bojorquez. Honorary pallbearers include Tony Thompson, Nick Westmoreland, Tim Kennedy, Steve Legarrea, Ruben Morales, Tony Morales, Anthony Legarrea, Andres “Dre” Bojorquez, and Augustin “Augie” Legarrea.
