Mr. Milburn S. York, 89, well-known farmer in the Spring Hill Community for many years and resident of Sewanee Circle, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. David McGregor and Rev. William Rolman officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. A native of Overton County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William Landon York and Mary Frances Smith York and a graduate of Livingston Academy. As an extension of a life-career spent in farming, Mr. York served as President and member of the Board of Directors of Maury Farmers Cooperative and a Director of Maury County Farm Bureau. He also was a former Alderman for the City of Spring Hill and avid vegetable gardener. He was a member of Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Catherine Campbell York, of Columbia; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Nell and Louis "Butch" Veazey of Hendersonville; and a granddaughter, Anna Catherine Veazey of Hendersonville. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha Norrod, Pearl Smith, Clara Hickey, and Wilma Parsons; and four brothers, Clyde M. York, Clifford York, Clance York, and Hassell Smith. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
