MRS. TOMMY N. ARMSTRONG Mrs. Mildred White Armstrong, 90, resident of The Bridge Retirement Center, died Saturday, November 22, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Presbyterian Church with Rev. Arch Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Churchyard. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Memorials may be made to Zion Cemetery Association. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland White, Sr. and Vergie Hardison White Fitzgerald. Educated in Maury County schools, she was employed by Tennessee Knitting Mills (formerly MKM) and was retired from Edric Manufacturing Company. On January 20, 1940 she married Tommy Newton Armstrong and they resided on their farm in the Zion Community until 1985 when they moved to Walnut Lane. Mr. Armstrong died July 29, 2000. Mrs. Armstrong was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church and took an active part in the work of the Women of the Church. She also was active in the Zion Community Club and Home Demonstration Club. Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Peggy Sue Kirkland of Macon, Georgia; a nephew, Bobby Wayne White of Macon, Georgia and best friends, Audrey and Hal Morgan of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a brother, Grover C. White, Jr. Active pallbearers are Franklin Armstrong, Maury Armstrong, George Nelson, Zack Dismukes, Harold Meador, Frierson Armstrong, Bob Morgan and Bobby Lee Runions. Honorary pallbearers include Elders and Deacons of Zion Presbyterian Church, friends and neighbors on Walnut Lane, Columbus Street, Curtis Bowden, Louis Eubank, Chesley Parrish, Will Dale, Jack White, Wayne Thomas, Wallace Willoughby.
