View Funeral Webcast Mildred Frances Demastus Young, 93, homemaker and former resident of Trotwood Avenue, died Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Carriage House in Shelbyville where she had made her home for last few years. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at Polk Memorial Gardens with Pastor Lawrence Jackson officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Born March 18, 1927 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Demastus and the late Lettie Watson Demastus Oliver. On October 13, 1945, she married Carles Guy Young who preceded her in death April 3, 2014. Mrs. Young was a member of Grace Nazarene Church and supported and was ministered to by Church of God of Prophesy. Survivors include her son, Dennis Ray (Kay) Young, Sr. of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Dennis Ray Young, Jr.; Regan (Todd) Rooks; great grandchildren, Robby Young, Tre Young, Maela Rooks, Levi Rooks, and Marlow Rooks; sister, Betty Foster of Culleoka; and several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Wayne Young; sisters, Dorothy Butts, Mary Ann Eaton, Joyce Malphus; and brother, William “Pete” Demastus.
