Mrs. Mildred Cook Fraser, 93, former resident of Pleasant Drive, died Sunday, February 13, 2005 at Rosewood Manor. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Jim Gardner officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Craft Memorial United Methodist Church, 907 Hatcher Lane, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Thomas Hodge Cook, Sr. and Marguarite Blair "Maggie" Cook. She was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and was active in the work of the Riverside Elementary School PTA, serving as president 1958 - 1959. Mrs. Cook was a long-time member and active in the affairs of the Craft Memorial United Methodist Church. She was married March 26, 1933 to Allen Humphrey Fraser, who died in November, 1967. She worked for a number of years as bookkeeper at J. C. Penny Company and Maury Regional Hospital. After her retirement, she worked on the reception desk at Holiday Inn. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Barbara Cook McIntyre, Thomas H. (Norma) Cook, III, James A. (Jan) Cook, Jr., Cynthia (Mike) King, Rosemary (Tommy) Bone, all of Columbia and Vivian Cook Harris of Las Vegas, Nevada; several great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Allen Fraser; three brothers, Ulna Cook, Al Cook and Thomas H. Cook, Jr. and a nephew, Jerry Allen Cook. Active pallbearers are Jonathan Allen, Jerry Allen, Hodge Cook, Matthew King, John Earwood, Eddie Ables, Mike Cook, David Cook, Dickie Cook and Brian Bone. Honorary pallbearers include Terry Heflen, Dr. Gibran Naddy and the staff of Rosewood Manor.
