Mrs. Mildred Ellen Holland Hughes, 87, resident of Beechcroft Road in Spring Hill, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Thrasher officiating. Burial will follow in Buford Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 12:00 noon until time of service at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Williamson County native was the daughter of the late Glenn Holland and the late Stella Buford Holland. She was married to Leo Hughes who preceded her in death January 21, 1968. Mrs. Hughes was previously employed by Maury Manufacturing and later retired from Black & Decker in Franklin. She was a member of Thompson's Station Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Wylie of Spring Hill; sons, Kenneth (Paula) Hughes of Murfreesboro, Paul (Linda) Hughes of Columbia; brother, Billy Holland of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Ramona (David) Ward, Kay Stein, Whitney Hughes, William Wylie, James Paul Hughes, Jr., Bryan Hughes, Tonya (Sean) Barnett, Kimberly Dawn Hughes; and several great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian "Tinky" Bennett; grandson, Jerry Wayne Pipkin; granddaughter, Melanie Lovell; four sisters; and one brother. Pallbearers include William Wylie, James Paul Hughes, Jr., Bryan Hughes, Mitchell Wylie, Sean Barnett, Dylan Glenn Grooms, and Buddy Grooms.
