View Funeral Webcast Mildred Jones Gibson Crews, 98, retired employee of Methodist Publishing House and resident of Nashville, died Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Rush officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born January 12, 1925 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Gibson and the late Clabie Jones Gibson. On April 20, 1942, she married Joe Cecil Crews who preceded her in death February 10, 2018. Mrs. Crews enjoyed reading, horseshoes, rook, gardening, and going to the creek. She was a great piano player, loved her family and the community of Culleoka. Mrs. Crews attended Friendship Baptist Church and Mooresville Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Cecile York of Franklin; grandchildren, Todd York of Franklin; Tara (Nathan) Ward of Spring Hill; great grandchildren, Caitlyn York of Atlanta, Georgia; Wes Ward of Spring Hill; Evie Ward of Spring Hill; niece, Rhonda Sutton of Erin; and nephew, John Tosh of Nashville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Love Gibson; and son-in-law, Gary York. Pallbearers will be Nathan Ward, Todd York, Randy York, Joe York, and John Tosh. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby York and Jimmy Hendrix.
