Mildred "Millie" Hooper Richardson, 82, resident of Navaho Trail, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Vassar and John Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born August 31, 1934, in Lawrence County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late William Ranson Hooper and the late Zelmer Grace Sensing Hooper. She was a graduate of Lawrence County High School and worked for Bib & Tucker and Cooper Shoe Store. Mrs. Richardson was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Don Richardson of Columbia; son, Douglas (Amy) Richardson of Columbia; daughter, Donna Lynn Richardson of California; grandchildren, Shannon (Scott) Matthews of Columbia; Brian Heath Richardson (fiancée, Jessica Potts) of Columbia; Rebecca (Jeffrey) Currie of Columbia; great grandchildren, Jackson Meadors of Columbia; Turner Currie of Columbia; and brothers, Arnold (Barbara) Hooper of Columbia; and Marion (Carol) Hooper of Ardmore.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Brown and Lou McCall.Active pallbearers will be Bobby Chance, Joe Newton, Donnie Prentice, Bobby Prentice, Jeff Graham, Rick Jenkins, Wayne Bone, and Jeff Hargrove. Honorary pallbearers include Wanda Roth, Faye Newton, Dr. Douglas Kennedy, Dr. Ben Gardner, Dr. Thomas Dake, Barbara Cheek, Charlotte Graham, Cheryl Martin, Ross Martin, Thelma Howell, active and inactive Deacons and Grace Sunday School Class of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church.The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care and the staff of Hospice Compassus for their care to Mrs. Richardson during her illness.
