View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Mildred Sneed Walters, 96, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, died Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at her residence in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Knob Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Anthony Muston officiating. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Born July 23, 1924 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late James Allen Sneed and the late Dilly Elizabeth Hickman Sneed. She was a 1942 graduate of Columbia Central High School. For several years, she worked at Tennessee Knitting Mills. Mrs. Walters enjoyed her family time, puzzles and gardening. She was a member of Knob Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, whom she married April 3, 1943, Leon Walters of Columbia; children, Buster (Pat) Walters of Columbia; Gail (Al Plank) Ledford of Columbia; Karen Walters of Pulaski; Mike (Sandra) Walters of Columbia; grandchildren, Ronnie Jack of Jackson; Teresa Jack Johnson of Henderson; Winston (Jessie) Walters of Columbia; great grandchildren, Chad Johnson, Courtney (Aaron) Brown, Cassie (Austin) Moseley, Chase Johnson, Ellie Walters, Jase Walters; and great great granddaughter, Millie Kate Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Jack; brother, Mahlon Sneed; and sister, Aylne Allen. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers include Larry Weaver, Gary Jack, and members of Knob Creek Baptist Church. The family would like to express a special thanks to Caris Hospice, Melissa White and staff.
