Mrs. Mildred Thrower Williams, 93, died Sunday, January 9, 2005 at her residence on Walnut Lane. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4- 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Williams who preceded her in death June 13, 1984. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Frank Williams of Columbia; four grandchildren, Doug (Shirley) Williams, Daniel Williams, Kim (Gary) Willis and Kara (Kerry) Huckaby all of Columbia; five great-grandchildren, Corbin Williams (Justin) Whitwell of Franklin, Kaelin Willis, Seth Willis, Jack Huckaby and Linton Huckaby all of Columbia; one step-great-grandchild, David Smith of Chapel Hill; and one sister, Katherine Johnson of Columbia. Pallbearers will be Doug Williams, Daniel Williams, Gary Willis, Kerry Huckaby, Seth Willis, David Smith, and Justin Whitwell. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Ruth Sunday School Class at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church and caregivers Lena Childress, Mary Hall, Gladys Nelson, Willodyne Odom and Debbie Myers.
