View Video Tribute Minnie Ruth McMeen Andrews, 91, former long-time resident of Laurel Circle, died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Richland Place in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Melinda Britt officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 12:30 to service time at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late John McMeen and Bertha Taylor McMeen. She was a 1938 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned an Associate Degree in early childhood education from Columbia State Community College. Mrs. Andrews began serving as Director of the Child Care Center for the Maury County Board of Education in 1948. Following her retirement in 1990 after her 48-year career, she began actively serving as a volunteer with the Maury Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and former member of Central Christian Church. She was first married to Oscar Thomas Norman, who died in 1947. December 21, 1957, she married Cecil Andrews who died May 21, 2004. Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Norman (Larry) Haynes of Murfreesboro, Priscilla Norman (Fred) Enters of Ashland City, and Cecilia Andrews (Tommy) Franklin of Goodlettsville; grandchildren, Grady Russell Haynes, Curt Norman (Stacey) Haynes, Amanda (Jordan) Tupper, Tracy Enters (Paul) Mooney, and Andrew Dennis Franklin; great-grandchildren, Caroline Haynes, Harris Haynes, and Cora Tupper; sisters, Janie Lamb of Brentwood and Della Jones of Columbia; brothers, Frank (Avanell) McMeen of Columbia and Taylor (Judy) McMeen of Plant City, Florida; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, John McMeen and Raymond McMeen. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include members of Ayres-Whitney Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church. The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to those at Richland Place, Alive Hospice, and especially to Allo Filson for their kindness, care, and support during her illness.
