Miss Dolores J. Milmine Miss Dolores J. Milmine, 77, retired school librarian and resident of Myers Avenue, died Friday, February 13, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Memorials may be made to Volunteers in Mission at First United Methodist Church, 222 West Seventh Street, Columbia or Maury County Animal Shelter, 1236 Lawson White Drive, Columbia. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Sandusky, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Gordon Milmine and Minnie May Sinden Milmine, natives of Ontario, Canada. She came to Columbia with her family in 1927 at the age of three months. She attended McDowell Elementary School and was a 1944 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Miss Milmine earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree in Library Science from George Peabody College. She was a school librarian in Lincoln County and Maury County for thirty-eight years. A number of those years were spent at Columbia Central High School. A member of First United Methodist Church since 1939, she was active in the affairs of United Methodist Women, Wesleyan Service Guild and made numerous mission trips overseas and in the United States with Methodist Volunteers in Action. Active in community affairs, she was a member of the Thursday Literary Guild, Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Maury County Retired Teachers Association and was an avid supporter of the Maury County Animal Shelter. Survivors include several cousins, Bernice Sinden, Robert Sinden, Brenda Milmine Simons, Chryl Sitts Brooks, Lillie Beal Ingersoll, Ruth Beal Ingersoll, Lauriena Milmine Richmond and Leon Milmine, all of Ontario, Canada. Active pallbearers are Ernest Allen, Page Chamberlain, Cam Anderson, Jim Lester, Dan Sengstacke, Houston Parks, Ken Hay, Robin Wilhite, Eddie Watson and Woody Givens. Honorary pallbearers include, Sadie Booker, Dr. Lewis Moore, Dr. Steven Simmons, Dr. John Kruckeburg, Mary Frances Gladney, Lil Moore, Marcilla Warren, Melanie Stephens, Marion Sengstacke, Lolly Watson and India Hay.
