Moody Hester West

Mr. Moody H. West, 75, resident of East 9th Street, died Monday, February 7, 2005 at NHC Hillview. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with C.M. Lemay officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 10 - 11a.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Frank Edward West, Sr. and Regina Hester West. He was a 1947 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Tennessee Tech University. He was a retired mathematical engineer with Boeing. Mr. West served in the United States Navy and was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother, William Charles "Bungle" West of Columbia; two sisters, Martha Jones, Catherine Gilliam both of Columbia; four nieces, Sandra Cochran of Duck River, Jean Fleming of Kingston Springs, Gloria Witherow of Smyrna, Beverly Tresch of Bluefield, West Virginia; three nephews, Joe West of Haines City, Florida, Tommy Gilliam of Big Canoe, Georgia, William E. Jones of Birmingham, Alabama; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Edward West, Jr. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Thomas Dake.
