Morris Lee "Tossy" Cheek, 85, retired employee of General Motors and resident of New Cut Road, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Calvin Hardison officiating. Burial will be in Morton Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Cordie Lee Cheek and Bessie Alsup Cheek. He was married to Patricia Marie Rattery Cheek who preceded him in death on September 5, 1994. Mr. Cheek served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include six sons, Keith (Kathleen) Cheek of Leland, Illinois; Gary (Debbie) Cheek of Dade City, Florida; Ron Cheek of Dunedin, Florida; Steve (Tina) Cheek of Port Richey, Florida; Phil (Barb) Cheek of Hudson, Florida; Opie (Cheryl) Cheek of Clearwater, Florida; one daughter, Kay (Gil) Rich of New Port Richey, Florida; four stepdaughters, Cindy (Jim) Kelly and Barby (Scott) Carnell, both of Chapel Hill; Linda (Ricky) Liggett of Berlin Community; Debby (Mike) Oathout of Lynnville; one stepson, Russ (Sheila) Grygiel of Tullahoma; three sisters, Gladys Tindell, Mary Louise Rummage, and Eunice Pullen, all of Columbia; one sister-in-law, Jewell Cheek of Columbia; 16 grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 15 nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Mildred Erneze Caudle Cheek of Dunedin, Florida. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ercell Cheek, J. V. Cheek, and his twin, Norris "Tinsy" Cheek. Pallbearers will be Calvin Cheek, Gary Cheek, Phil Cheek, Opie Cheek, Dustin McCandless, and Chris McCandless.
