Mr. Oscar Morton Damron, 76, President of Damron & Sons Construction Company and resident of Jefferson Dr.ive, died Sunday, March, 23, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital at Baptist Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon, Wednesday at Northview Church of Christ with Mike Greene, Gregg Elrod and Wayne B. Hardison officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. The Bedford County native was the son of the late Oscar Temple Damron and Era Mae Garrett Damron. He was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School and graduated from Tennessee Tech with a B.S. in Industrial Management. He served in the United States Army and the National Guard. He was President of Blue Springs Rock & Asphalt Company, Inc. and was a member of Tennessee Road Builders Association. Mr. Damron was a member of Northview Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Wilma Billington "Pydle" Damron of Columbia; daughter, Dawn (Scott) Liggett of Columbia; son, Ricky (Kay) Damron of Columbia; six grandchildren, Justin Damron, Chance Damron, Rachel Brown, Kristin Brown, Emma Liggett, Sam Liggett; brother, Clinton (Jean Gray) Damron of Columbia; special cousin, H.C. Farmer of Evansville, Indiana; and long-time family employee and friend, Mattie Armstrong. Active pallbearers are Boyd Gilliam, Charles Brewer, Carl Ayers, Don Howell, Gene Howell, Marvin Bailey, Randell Rummage and Howard Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are former employees of Damron & Sons Construction Company and Blue Springs Rock & Asphalt Company, Richard Reed, Dr. James Kelley, Dr. John Dixon, Dr. John Byrne, Dr. Doug Kennedy, and deacons and elders of Northview Church of Christ.
