Mr. Alvis Ray Woodard, Sr., 60, employee of Maury Farmers Co-op, passed away Monday, May 7, 2007 at his residence on Baptist Church Road in the Culleoka Community. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Calvin Hardison officiating. Burial will be in Moore Cemetery in the Rally Hill Community. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Marshall County native was the son of the late Otis Felix Woodard and Annie Sue King Woodard. On June 22, 1966, he married the former Judy Smithson. He was a hard working man that took care of his family and refused to ask for any help. He worked the last thirty years at Maury Farmers Co-op in Columbia, where he held numerous positions over the years. He was a past employee of Southern Pest Control, Weather Tamer as well as Fountain Creek Mill until its closure. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Alvis "Alby" (DeDee) Woodard, Jr. of Culleoka; one brother, Donald (Judy) Woodard of Culleoka; his twin sister, Alice (John) Campbell of Columbia; two very special granddaughters, Sherry Woodard and Blaire Woodard, both of Culleoka; father-in-law, Aubrey Smithson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Jean Woodard and one brother, Felix Woodard. Pallbearers will be Keith Farmer, Donnie Chapman, Bruce Odom, Jerry "Mule" Runions, Ronald Roland, Jeff Smithson, Chad Bailey and Tim Dunkle. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of Maury Farmers Co-op, Dr. Mark Messenger, staff at Columbia Oncology, and nurses of Hospice of Highland Rim.
