Mr Gene Davidson

Mr. Edward Eugene "Gene" Davidson, 78, resident of North Campbell Blvd., died Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at St. Thomas Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday at Parkway Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Logan Davidson and Rosie Day Davidson. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Company after thirty-six years of service and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Velma Gray Davidson of Columbia; one daughter, Pamela Jean Chunn of Columbia; one son, Danny (Joye) Davidson of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Margaret (Johnny) Poteet of Lewisburg; one brother, Amos E. Davidson of Columbia; five grandchildren, Paula (Anthony) Marshall, Vicky (Darren) Wall, Jimmy (Serita) Davidson, Scott Chunn, Christie (Mike) Fautt; and five great-grandchildren, Stratton Marshall, Addison Marshall, Bradley Wall, Makayla Davidson and Neely Fautt. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Davidson in 1973, James Davidson in 1997, and three brothers, Grady Davidson, Merit Davidson and John Davidson. Pallbearers will be Mike Anderson, Jerry Brunson, Dennis Ray Nichols, Jerry Nichols, Doug Hickman, Jimmy Davidson, Scott Chunn and Joe Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be retired employees of Monsanto Chemical Company.
