Mrs Brownie Sweeney Hollaway

Mrs. Brownie Sweeney Hollaway, 82, retired LPN and resident of Oakdale Drive, died Monday, November 22, 2004, at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Doug Edwards and Dan Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday after 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1212, Columbia, TN 38402. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Carter Sweeney and Lola Williams Sweeney. She was a graduate of Culleoka High School and attended General Hospital School of Nursing. She had worked for Dr. William Fuqua, Dr. Carl Gardner, Jr. as well as Kings Daughters Hospital and Maury County Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Robert Hollaway of Wedowee, Alabama; one son, Ronald E. (Sarah) Edwards of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Ruth (J.W.) Lentz of Hohenwald; Jewell Dawson of Culleoka; Patty Johnson of Columbia; one brother, Robert (Nell) Sweeney of Birmingham, Alabama; five grandchildren, Dana (Tim) Nolan of Shelbyville; Ronald Douglas Edwards, Daniel Jay (Stephanie) Edwards, and Jonathan Andrew "Drew" Edwards, all of Lawrenceburg; Don Edwards of Germany; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, W. C. Sweeney, Jr. and Roy A. Sweeney. Pallbearers will be her family. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Carl Gardner, Jr., Dr. William Fuqua, Dr. Gaylon Harris, and staff of Life Care Center.
