Mrs. Mildred Woody Riggan, 83, retired teacher and longtime resident of Santa Fe Pike, died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Meaker officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe Cemetery. She was married for fifty-six years to David Riggan who preceded her in death July 3, 2000. She was a graduate of Santa Fe High School and received her bachelor of science degree from Middle Tennessee State University. Mrs. Riggan taught music and 6th grade for thirty years, mostly at Santa Fe School. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Santa Fe Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jeanne (Garland) Honeycutt of Tullahoma and Mrs. Melody (Jim) Sipes of Franklin; one brother, William J. Woody of Santa Fe; four grandchildren, Anne Marie Honeycutt of Nashville, Robert Thomas Sipes, U.S. Army stationed in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Trenton Corey Sipes currently deployed to Iraq with the 278 Combat Regimental Team of the Tennessee Army National Guard, and Sarah Jeanne Sipes of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Woody Jernigan, Frances Woody Lewis and Jane Woody Wells. Pallbearers will be Bruce Odom, Marlin Arnold, Cody Jernigan, Charles Pigg, Joey Potts, Chad Fox and Roger Ragsdale.
