Mrs Nita White Mitchell

Mrs. Mary Juanita "Nita" White Mitchell, 89, former longtime resident of North Bigby Drive in Columbia, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ronnie Meek officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Limestone County, Alabama native was the daughter of the late William L. White and Etta Mae Thornton White. She was married for sixty-two years to Allen Thomas Mitchell who preceded her in death on June 24, 1999. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, Dewayne (Mary Martha) Mitchell of Knoxville; two grandchildren, Kathrine (Anthony) Brown and Dustin Mitchell; one half-sister, Imogene Holt; two half-brothers, Bobby Dale White and Carlos White; and several nephews and nieces including Juaneece McKee (Jim) Bass of Columbia. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
