Murray Sharpe Mr. Murray Sharpe, 76, resident of Shangrila Trail, died Thursday, April 28, 2005 at NHC Hillview following an extended illness. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Churchyard with The Rev. Tom Wilson and Rev. Bill Betts officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Disease Association, 2300 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203 or the charity of your choice. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Florence, Alabama native was the son of the late Thomas Sharpe and Lida Gammill Sharpe. He graduated from high school in Memphis and attended the University of Tennessee at Memphis. In 1961 he acquired Home Oil Co. in Maury County which was later known as Sharpe Oil Co. Later he founded Petroleum Marketer's Consulting Firm. Mr. Sharpe served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club. He was a former member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the choir. More recently he was a member of West End Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years Charlotte Strong Sharpe of Columbia; one daughter, Lois Ann Sharpe of Cordova; one son, Steve (Virginia) Sharpe of Columbia; two grandchildren, Carson Murray Sharpe and Ella Ann Virginia Sharpe both of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Wilma Jensen of Cordova; and two brothers, Selbert Sharpe of Escondido, California and Broadaus (Mary Helen) Sharpe of Navarre, Florida. Pallbearers will be Cecil Johns, Milt Blount, Virgil Moore, Lewis Eubank, Roy Hamilton, Dr. Jim Baker, U.V. Waldrop and Gilbert Orr, Jr.
