Mrs. Myrtle Ward Deason, 89, former longtime resident of the Hopewell/Bigbyville Community, died Sunday, September 7, 2003 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Andrew J. Ward and Fannie Viola Barnes Ward. She was married for fifty-nine years to Thurman Lee Deason who preceded her in death on October 6, 1995. She was a retired employee of Maury Manufacturing and a member of Bigbyville United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette (James) Richardson of Culleoka, Paula Dooley of Columbia; one son, Edgar Lee (Scottie) Deason of Columbia; four grandchildren, Neal Richardson, John Richardson, Jason Richardson, Keeley Dooley Farmer; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers will be Clyde Harris, Larry Benderman, Jason Richardson, Devin Farmer, Neal Richardson and John Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Deason, Harold Deason, Irvin Deason, Jimmy Bassham, members of Bigbyville United Methodist Church, and staff of Life Care Center.
