Myrtle Ballard Holtman

Myrtle Ballard Holtman, 67, retired nurse and resident of Spring Hill, died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 12:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Obed L. Ballard and the late Sarah Frances Howell Ballard. She was married to Stanley Louis Holtman who preceded her in death April 17, 2015. She was a 1968 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned her Associate's degree in Nursing from Columbia State Community College. Myrtle's nursing career spanned forty-three years and she retired as LPN from Maury Regional Medical Center. She loved music and enjoyed traveling and fishing. Survivors include her sister, Angela Ballard of Spring Hill; aunt, Frances Howell of Columbia; step-daughters, Angie (Kip) Watson and Avalyn (Richard) Bauer, both of Murfreesboro; Sara (John) Yarber of Kingsport; step grandchildren, Tyler Watson, Caroline Watson, Neyland Watson, Sebastian Fugate, Colton Fugate; step great grandchild, Clayton Watson; and cousins, Linda (Don) Sullivan, Joyce (Randy) Sprouse, and Gina (Mike) Potts. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Anderson, Kip Watson, Tyler Watson, Neyland Watson, Randy Sprouse, and Jim Beck. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Mobley, Russ Garber, Buddy Jewell, and Billy Yates.
