Mrs. Nadie Lee Gary Ladd, 91, retired Maury County School teacher and longtime resident of Turkey Creek Community, died Friday, January 6, 2006, at Life Care Center. Mrs. Ladd's body was donated to Vanderbilt University Medical School. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Sherry Ladd and Tommy Neal officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A native of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Eustace E. Gary and Fanny Thompson Gary. She was married to Tom Rye Ladd who preceded her in death on March 23, 1999. She received her education in Fountain Inn High School and Winthrop College in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where she was valedictorian of her graduating class. She taught school in South Carolina, Florida, and in Maury County for twenty-six years. She retired from Central High School in 1976. Mrs. Ladd was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church and a former member of Williamsport United Methodist Women, Williamsport Women's Club, James Sparkman UDC, Thomas McKissick DAR, Maury County Retired Teachers, Tennessee Retired Teachers, the Student's Club, and the Maury County Library Board. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Judy (B. L.) Melton of Santa Fe; three sons, Thomas Gary Ladd and George (Sherry) Ladd, both of Santa Fe; Ronald (Robin) Ladd of Seminole, Florida; one sister, Mrs. Edith Nuckolls of Bristol; four granddaughters, Mrs. Merry Marticia (David) Naramore, Miss Michelle Marie Ladd, Mrs. Melody (Tommy) Neal, Miss Patricia Renee Ladd; one grandson, Thomas Rye Ladd, II; five great grandchildren, Katherine Hillis, Adrianna Neal, Jonathan Neal, Cheyenne Naramore, Amber Naramore; and special friends, Doris Alderson, Louise Brown, Carolyn Wiley, and all her sitters.
