Nancy Claudine Harris Pigg, 84, retired Clinical Phycologist for Mental Health Clinic, died Saturday, October 12, 2019 at her residence in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Peter J. Whalen. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 14, 1935 in Nashville, she was the daughter of the late James Howard Harris and the late Beulah Work Harris. In 1953, she married James Elwood “Buddy” Pigg who preceded her in death March 9, 2017. Mrs. Pigg earned her Master’s degree from Vanderbilt University. Before Mr. Pigg’s death, together they restored historical homes, and later she spent time landscaping and doing brick work. She loved to grow flowers, vegetables, and feed her bucket calves. Mrs. Pigg enjoyed working for the APTA and was a former past President. She was member of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. Survivors include her sons, Mark (Lisa) Pigg of Birmingham, Alabama; Jim (Linda) Pigg of West Point; Rob (Karen) Pigg of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughter, Lisa Klein of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Katie (Father Watson) Lamb, Maggie Pigg, Seith Klein; and great grandchildren, Marilyn Lamb, Mark Lamb, Ferran Lamb, and Bea Lamb. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Harris, Jr. Active pallbearers will be Paul Gibson, Bud Wilson, and Brett Herrmann. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Pigg and Randolph Pigg.
