Narvell Justice "Tommy" Johnson, Jr., 77, retired crane operator for Monsanto Company, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Centennial Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Charles Paul Sisk and Rev. Andre Martin officiating. Burial will be in Cross Bridges Baptist Cemetery with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The Maury County native was the son of the late Narvell J. Johnson, Sr. and Floy Norman Johnson and a 1950 graduate of Haylong High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ruby Sisk Johnson of Columbia; daughter, Susan Johnson of Columbia; sons, Michael (Valerie) Johnson of Columbia and Mitchell (Sharon) Johnson of St. Augustine, Florida; grandchildren, Justice (Sabine) Johnson, Adam Johnson, Leah Johnson, Merri Johnson, Laura (Brandon) Sparkman, Martha (Joey) Peden; great-grandchildren, Lillie Kate Peden, Elijah Johnson, Blaine Johnson, Noah Sparkman, Logan Johnson; "Pa's" best friends, Lewis and Babycakes. He was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Fleming and Elaine Tonello; and granddaughter, Stephanie Johnson. Active pallbearers are Joey Peden, Brandon Sparkman, Matt Wade, Adam Johnson, Justice Johnson, and Lonnie Lyles. Honorary pallbearers include Virginia and Jerry Nichols, Columbia Police Department, Maury 911 employees, Monsanto retirees, and Freddie Rich.
