MRS. NELLE CATHEYMrs. Nelle Goodman Cathey, 80, resident of Cathey's Creek Road in Hampshire, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at NHC of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with A.T. Pate officiating. Burial will be in Worley Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. She was a member of Cathey's Creek Church of Christ. She was a former member of Hampshire Home Demonstration Club. She was a homemaker, a former foster parent of over twenty-two children and was known for her love of children and sharing her homemade chocolate pies.Survivors include her husband of over sixty years, Hal Cathey of Hampshire; one daughter, Shirley (Randy) Boshers of Mt. Pleasant; three sons, Earl (Mary Jane) Cathey and Frank (Gail) Cathey both of Hampshire, Gilbert (Barbara) Cathey of Mt. Pleasant; one brother Edward Henson of Hohenwald; three sisters, Irene Roden and Tommie Burleson both of Hohenwald, Lucille Smith of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren Shane Boshers, Angie Hollis, Allen Cathey, Dawn Cathey; five great-grandchildren, Briana Boshers, Katie Boshers, Cody Hollis, Erin Hollis, Chase Cathey; one sister-in-law, Tennie Chaffin; one brother-in-law, Birney Alphin; and several nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Shane Boshers, Frank Cathey, Allen Cathey, Billy Roden, Bobby Grimmitt, Blair Pogue, Joe Sam Savage and Dan Shannon. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Jones, Walker Prince, Men of Beech Hill Church of Christ, Men of Cathey's Creek Church of Christ and the staff of NHC of Columbia.
