Nettie Pearl Gowan Clifton

Mrs. Nettie Pearl Gowan Clifton, 84, long-time resident of the Yokely Community in Giles County and for the past twelve years resident of Whitesell Road in the Culleoka Community, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Columbia Care & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Brother Terrell Pitts officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Bennie Gowan and Alma Jenkins Gowan. She was a member of Bethel Church of Christ. She was married September 17, 1937 to Lewis S. Clifton who preceded her in death December 27, 2006. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy (Wayne) Lovell of Culleoka; a son, Larry Don (Mary) Clifton of Lewisburg; three grandchildren, Timothy Wayne Lovell of Lynnville, Terry Len Lovell of Smyrna, and Christopher Dereck Clifton of Culleoka; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Bennie Lee Gowan of Pulaski. Pallbearers are Wayne Lovell, Timothy Lovell, Terry Lovell, Brandon Lovell, Dereck Clifton, and Jimmy Sanders.
