Nettie Lou Walker Durham, 95, retired from Maury Regional Medical Center and resident of Columbia, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Life Care Center of Columbia. 

 

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Henryville Cemetery with Doyle Parham and Ronnie Spann officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born September 5, 1928, in Limestone County, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late John Newt Walker and the late Mary Ann Phillips Walker. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Mrs. Durham enjoyed taking care of her family and friends. She was known to always have a loving smile and loved by everyone. Mrs. Durham enjoyed reading, cooking, and tending to her many flowers. She was a member of Columbia Pentecostal Church of Christ. 

 

Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Stewart Wells; daughter-in-law, Shari (Tommy) Stewart; grandchildren, Troy (Tammy) Blackwood, Jenefer (Sammy) Pate, Heather (RJ) Jones, and Adam Stewart; great grandchildren, Hayden Pate, Briley (Nick) Johnson, Hudson Pate, Brooke Blackwood, and Hunter Stewart; step-son, David (Wanda) Durham and family; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William T. Stewart in 1959, second husband Luther Haskins in 1983, and third husband Gene Durham in 2010; son, Tommy Stewart; and four sisters and one brother. 

 

Active pallbearers will be Troy Blackwood, Sammy Pate, Adam Stewart, Hayden Pate, Hudson Pate, Hunter Stewart, David Durham, and Scott Durham. Honorary pallbearers include former members of the Columbia Pentecostal Church of Christ. 

 

The family would like to thank Life Care Center of Columbia, and Compassus for their love and care.
