Nina Jo Yates Potter, 83, retired sales clerk, died Thursday, November 2, 2017, at her residence on Rolling Fields Circle. A Memorial Service will be conducted Monday at 1:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Chip Hunter and Mike Tyler officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 12:00 - 1:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Hospice Compassus, 830 Hatcher Lane, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born January 5, 1934, in Hickman County, she was the daughter of the late Ray Yates and the late Icy Mae Luther Yates. Her husband Grover Potter preceded her in death on February 22, 2000. She enjoyed music, dancing, crocheting, flowers and yardwork. Mrs. Potter was a member of Bon Aqua United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (Ronny) Bratton; step-daughters, Ann (Dwight) Bates and Debra (Hank) Batts; step-son, Douglas Potter; grandchildren, Kyle (Melissa) Bratton, Kelly (Matthew) Priest, Christina (Ryan) Vietmeyer, Kaytee Batts, Nick Batts; great grandchildren, Madelyn Bratton, Liam Bratton, Garrett Priest, Audrey Priest, Marshall Vietmeyer, Catherine Vietmeyer; and sister-in-law, Fay (Carl) Burton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dickey Yates, and two grandsons, Jesse Bates and Michael Bates.
