Nola Johnson Benderman Martindale, 96, longtime resident of Pulaski Highway in the McCains Community, died Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Life Care Center of Columbia where she had made her home for the past five years. A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 11:30 A.M. at Lawrence Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. William Owens officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Born December 4, 1921, in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late James Williamson Johnson and the late Viola Mildred Collins Johnson. She was first married to William Joseph Benderman who died April 28, 1972; and later married Marion Douglas Martindale who preceded her in death October 2, 2005. Mrs. Martindale was a factory worker from 1953 to 1982, working at Dixie Manufacturing, Columbia Togs, Storktowne, and Maury Manufacturing. She was also a caregiver of the elderly, including her parents, for many years. Mrs. Martindale most recently attended Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church and prior to that Loyal Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Larry (Gayle Smithson) Benderman; grandchildren, Kevin (Tonya Tate) Benderman and Kyla Benderman (Jeff) Harris; great grandsons, Kevin (Sarah) Benderman, Jr., Joseph Benderman, Josh Benderman, Christian Harris; great granddaughters, Katie Harris and Chloe Harris; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Himes, Wilma Turner, Mariam Agent, Doris Johnson; and four brothers, George W. Johnson, Douglas Johnson, Mahlon Johnson, and Ray Johnson. Pallbearers will be Kevin Benderman, Kevin Benderman, Jr., Joseph Benderman, Josh Benderman, Jeff Harris, and Christian Harris.
