MR. NOLAN COTHRON, SR. Mr. James Nolan Cothron, Sr., 83, former resident of Maury County, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at his residence on Mashburn Road in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Saturday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jim Growden officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Christopher Columbus Cothron and Mary Virginia Holcomb Cothron. He was a painter and member of Painters Local 456. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lepley Cothron of Nashville; son, James Nolan (Betsy) Cothron, Jr. of Old Hickory; two brothers, Raymond (Jean) Cothron of Nashville, Billy Joe (Penny) Cothron of Columbia; three sisters, Jewell Cheek of Columbia, Peggy Sue Ballard of Nashville, Melba Jean Bowers of Florida; one granddaughter, Kelley Cothron of Old Hickory; and three grandsons, Chris Cothron, Pete Cothron, and Tommy Cothron all of Old Hickory. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Dale Cothron who died March 13, 1997; two brothers, Leland Cothron and Dorris Cothron; and three sisters, Dorothy Cheatham, Charlotte Lansdowne and Virginia Barnes. Pallbearers will be Chris Cothron, Pete Cothron, Tommy Cothron, Marshall "Pee Wee" Cothron, Bill Sharp, Jimmy Cheek and Christopher Daniel Cothron.
