Mrs. Nora Russell Thomas Sheegog, 97, long-time resident of Campbellsville Pike, died Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at Harpeth Terrace in Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bill Williamson and Rev. Steve Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit friends Thursday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the church parlor. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Ernest Davis Thomas and Lillian Porter Perry Thomas and a descendant of pioneer settlers of the Bigbyville Community. She was a 1929 graduate of Columbia Central High School and the Columbia Institute. Mrs. Sheegog was active in the affairs of First Presbyterian Church for many years and a member of the Bethany Sunday School Class. Other interests included membership in the Maury County Historical Society and Sunnyside Home Demonstration Club. She was married February 23, 1933 to John Edward Sheegog who preceded her in death May 22, 1966. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lillian Porter and Don Savage of Franklin; a sister, Mary Porter Thomas Seale of Columbia; two grandsons, Mark Sheegog (Stephanie) Savage of Brentwood and Andrew Ezell (Laura) Savage of Murfreesboro; four great-grandchildren, William Savage and John Edward Savage of Brentwood, Savannah Savage and Sarah Kate Savage of Murfreesboro; a niece, Carol Jane Satterwhite of New York City, New York, John Satterwhite, Jr., William Thomas, and David Thomas of Columbia. Mrs. Sheegog loved her additional family, the children of the late Olivia and Hayes Thomas who grew up on the family farm, Mattie Secrest, Hazel Moore, Rachel Thomas, Emma Thomas, Dorothy Thomas, Mildred Thomas, and Johnny Horace Thomas. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Addison Thomas and William Thomas. Active pallbearers are Danny Burt, Douglas McCaig, Glenn Perry, Will Dale, Jr., Burt Hewgley, and Johnny Horace Thomas.
