Nora Guillermina Garza Stosberg, 83, retired employee of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, died Sunday, June 17, at her residence in Columbia.Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Robin Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the church. Born December 30, 1934 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, she was the youngest of eleven children of the late Moises Garza Vega and Esther Chavez Muzquiz. She became a U.S. citizen on January 13, 1956. Nora married her sweetheart, Clarence Eugene Stosberg, the father of her three beloved children, in 1967, who preceded her in death on January 20, 2001. She graduated from the Holding Institute in Laredo Texas in May 1953. She worked as a civil servant for twenty-seven years before retiring in January 1997 from the US Army Corps of Engineers.Nora was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved being a member and volunteering at the Nashville, TN LDS Temple and for various callings in the church. She especially loved The Book of Mormon and had a very strong testimony of its truthfulness. She loved flowers, especially the yellow ones and loved the smell of gardenias. She spent many happy hours planting and tending to them. She also enjoyed family history, spending many hours researching family genealogy. Nora was a lifelong cat lover. Survivors include three children: Aron Eugene (Dawn) Stosberg, Sharon Lee (Glen) Roberson, and Gloria Eugenia (Jonathan) Thurn and one brother, Cesar (Bertha) Garza. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Aron Enrique Stosberg, Gabrielle Anastasia (Jesus Martinez) Stosberg, Deserae Isabella Stosberg, Ayden Eugenio Stosberg, Jakob Lee (Dominique Bowman) Roberson, Jesse Kaleb (Shana Thompson) Roberson, Jared Glen Roberson, Jaxon Elijah Roberson, Josef Braden Roberson, Juliana Isadora Roberson, Jillian Mireya Roberson, Jorgena Lucinda Roberson, & Christian Khyber Thurn; three great grandchildren: Alisyn Marie Roberson, Myra Mae Roberson, and Josiah Avery Martinez.; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved like her own brothers and sisters.She is also survived by her step children: Terri Rae (Scott) Dankenbring, Debra Jean (Scott) Bozzardi, Stephen Douglas (Mona) Stosberg, Karen Lee Rodriguez, Michael Joseph Stosberg, David Andrew (Misty) Stosberg.Nora was preceded in death by brothers:Genaro Garza, Roberto (Josefina) Garza, Elias Garza, Efrain (Elena) Garza, and sisters: Maria (Gregorio) Grimaldo, Oralia (Jesus) Flores, Rebecca (Reynaldo) Guajardo, Hortencia (Bernardo) Gracia, and Dora (Salomon) Abraham.Pallbearers will be Aron Eugene Stosberg, Earl Glen Roberson, Jonathan Andrew Thurn, Aron Enrique Stosberg, Ayden Eugenio Stosberg, Jakob Lee Roberson, Jesse Kaleb Roberson, Jared Glen Roberson, Jaxon Elijah Roberson, Josef Braden Roberson, and Christian Khyber Thurn.
