Norman Don Garner

Norman Don Garner, 88, retired employee of Industrial Products and resident of Hampshire, died Friday, June 16, 2023 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Stephen Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Worley Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born February 23, 1935 in Maury County he was the son of the late Willard Garner and the late Annie May Brooks Garner. He enjoyed cutting grass, watching baseball and Andy Griffin show, and eating at good restaurants. Mr. Garner was a member of Cathey’s Creek Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, whom he married December 8, 1956, Sue Pogue Garner of Columbia; sisters-in-law, Pat Garner, Alice Campbell; nephews, Pat Campbell, James (Tina) Pogue, Harry (Natalie) Garner; niece, Celia (Andy) Koelsch; great nieces, Rachael Pogue, Laura (Dane) Purtle, Susan (Chris) Martin, Emily (Jason) Orr, Anita Koelsch, Hannah Garner; great nephew, Wayne Koelsch; and great great nephews, Campbell Purtle, Davis Purtle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Garner; brother-in-law, Blair Pogue; and sister-in-law, Sandra Pogue. Active pallbearers will be Dane Purtle, Chris Martin, Marc Garner, Ronnie Hinson, Dennis Holden, Curtis McCoy, George Brooks, and Jimmy Fann. Honorary pallbearers include Betty and Ray Holden, Nancy Jo Garner, James Gallaher, Janet Garner, Shelia Debruhl, and Sue and Luke McCoy.
