OKEY MANNING, SR. Mr. Okey Marshall Manning, Sr. 76, resident of Scribners Mill Road, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. John Rushing officiating. A graveside service will be held Friday at 1:00 P.M. in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, West Virginia. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Northside Baptist Church. The Pemberton, West Virginia native was the son of the late Howard Manning and Nancy Marshall Manning. He was first married to M. Rebecca Kennedy Manning who died January 11, 1977. He was owner/operator of Manning Aluminum in Elyria, Ohio. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. in Elyria. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Columbia and was active in Vacation Bible School activities. Survivors include his wife, Annabell Hill Manning of Culleoka; one son, Okey Marshall (Joni) Manning, Jr. of Lansing, Michigan; one daughter, Sheila (Jeffery) Johnson of Grafton, Ohio; one step-daughter, Sandra (Melvin) Asberry of Culleoka; one step-son, Cecil (Lattie) Keene of Windham, Ohio; four sisters, Willie Cox of Berea, Ohio, Virginia Carmen of Lebanon, Helen (Robert) Preast of Ohio, Jean (Odel) Blevins of Harrisville, West Virginia; seven brothers, Ed (Emogene) Manning, Robert (Geneva) Manning, Kenneth Manning, Virgil (Delma) Manning all of Beckley, West Virginia, Melvin (Marcella) Manning of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Donald (Leona) Manning of Murfreesboro, Ross (Maria) Manning of North Ridgeville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Larry Keene in 1995.
