Mrs. Onnie Evelyn Riley Baxter, 82, resident of the Hampshire Community, died Monday, December 6, 2004 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Lloyd E. Baxter, Jr. and Lloyd E. Baxter, III, officiating. Burial will be in Baxter Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late George Riley and Lessie Vandiver Riley. She was married to Albert Howard Baxter who preceded her in death December 18, 1990. She was retired from the Maury County School System at Hampshire and was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters, Louise (Pete) Brooks of Lobelville, Margaret (John) Haywood of Cornersville, Evelyn (Billy) Morton of Dayton; one son, Gene Ray (Judy) Baxter of Hampshire; one daughter-in-law, Linda Baxter of Santa Fe; three sisters, Addie Baxter and Joanne Anderson both of Mt. Pleasant, Opal Collier of Culleoka; one brother, Robert Riley of the Greenfield Bend Community; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Ocy Albert Baxter, a twin brother, Dick Riley, and two sisters, Cova Simmons and Frances Howell. Pallbearers will be Todd Baxter, Barry Brooks, Dee Gordon, Darrel Hickman, Gregory Baxter, Tracy Kilpatrick and Loyce Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at NHC Hillview.
