Ophelia Wise Foster

Ophelia Wise Foster, 88, long-time resident of the Williamsport Community, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Anthony Muston and Tommy Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Willard Edgar Wise and Janie Greenfield Wise. In 1939 she married LaVern "Buster" Foster who preceded her in death in 1977. Mrs. Foster was a faithful member of Viola Baptist Church since 1951 and for 37 years worked as a seamstress for Publix Manufacturing Company. Survivors include her children, Peggy (Pete) Reese of Williamsport and Tommy (Sandy) Foster of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Greg (Wendy) Foster of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jeremy (Jen) Foster of Mesa, Arizona, and Tina Morris of Mt. Pleasant; great-grandchildren, Paige Morris and Thomas Morris of Mt. Pleasant; sisters-in-law, Frances Wise of Culleoka, Brownie Wise of Chapel Hill, Betty Rudnick of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Josephine Bates of Nashville; brothers-in-law, Bliss Foster of Atlanta, Georgia, Earl Foster and John Foster of Nashville; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Matthew Judd and Janet Anderson. The youngest and last to survive of ten children, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Izora Perry, Mary Holt, and Carrie Thurman; and six brothers, Elmer Wise, Maryland Wise, Willard Wise, Pat Wise, Jim Wise, and Frank Wise. Active pallbearers are Matthew Judd, Terry Lindsey, Michael Reese, Jamie Wise, Jeremy Foster, and Ronnie Harris. Honorary pallbearers include Craig Foster, Nathan Perry, Byron Perry, Joel Wise, Jimmy Thurman, Wayne Holt, Daryl Judd, Donald Love, Bob Hardison, Johnny Reese, Danny Wise, Jeff Harris, Alan Sperhalik, Kayla Myer, men of Viola Baptist Church, Dr. Meagan Gannon and staff, Quality Care-givers, and staff at NHS Hillview.
