Mr. Ores Butler, 78, retired butcher and resident of Davis Avenue, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Robinson and Kirk Brothers officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a former member of Eastside Church of Christ and more recently a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jackie Doggett Butler of Columbia; one son, Glen Butler of Columbia; two daughters, Mrs. Lynda (David) Rash of Columbia, Mrs. Lydia Shivers of Fayette, Alabama; one daughter-in-law, Jan Butler of Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Page of Columbia, Kentucky; Mrs. Clarice Willis of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, Shannon Lambert, Brandy Daughrity, Charlie Rash, Stacie Shivers, Gerald Shivers; and three great-grandchildren, Maddux Lambert, Kasey Lotts and Michael Lotts. Pallbearers will be David Rash, Charlie Rash, Richard Lambert and Jason Daughrity. Honorary pallbearers will be Elmer Lusk, Jack White, Tim Anderson, Dr. Gaylon Harris and Dr. Erik Iversen.
