Mr. Osbie Hinson, 87, retired carpenter and long-time former resident of the Rock Springs Community, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Dr. Dwain Brown officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lewis County native was the son of the late Will Hinson and Elizabeth McNabb Hinson. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. His wife of 50 years, Myrtle Matlock Hinson, died December 31, 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Martha (James) Tomlin of Columbia; two sons, Leon (Georgene) Hinson and Roger (Sandra) Hinson of Columbia; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dema Anderson and three brothers, Willie D. Hinson, W. J. Hinson, and Oliver Hinson. Active pallbearers are Keith Hinson, Tommy James, Christopher James, Troy Anderson, Keith Poarch, and Patrick Ray. Honorary pallbearers include men of Rock Springs Baptist Church, old friends on Crooked Creek, and the staff of Skilled Nursing Unit at Maury Regional Hospital.
