Patricia Carey Langa

Mrs. Patricia Elaine Carey Langa, 76, retired surgical nurse at Maury Regional Hospital and resident of Cayce Lane, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Altrogge officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, P. O. Box 1038, Columbia, TN 38402. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Buckeye Lake, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William Gerald Carey and Millie May O'Ferrel Carey. She was a graduate of Licking County Hospital Registered Nurse Program in Newark, Ohio. As a Registered Nurse, she assisted her husband Dr. Langa in surgery at Maury Regional Hospital until they retired in 1990. Mrs. Langa was active in Scouting, having served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader as well Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served as Treasurer and was instrumental in the expansion of the church on School Street. Survivors include her husband of thirty-five years, Dr. Ambrose M. Langa of Columbia; two daughters, Mrs. Carol (Bill) Welch of Columbia; Mrs. Erin (Bill) White of Culleoka; one son, Paul Davis of Donelson; eight grandchildren, Tricia (Keith) Lawrence of Portland, Paul Michael (Autumn) Welch of Nashville; Samantha White, Jessica White, and Staci White, all of Culleoka; Tammie (Mark) Qualls of Columbia; Matthew Davis and Caitlin Davis, both of Donelson; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and family in Slovakia, Europe. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Ann Davis; sister-in-law, Valerie Langa; and three sisters, Geraldine Williams, Roberta McCormick, and Yvonne Bagent. Pallbearers will be Leslie Burns, Lezvadis Foster, Wallace Willoughby, Floyd White, Eddie Williams, and Patrick Hickman. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Department of Surgery of Maury Regional Hospital.
