Patrick Edward Kay, 83, passed away on March 9, 2025, in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on November 4, 1941 in Oak Park, Illinois. Patrick lived a life filled with passion, family, and cherished moments.
A lifelong lover of horses and horse racing, Patrick found immense joy in caring for his beloved Windy Prairie Farm for over 35 years in Plato Center, Illinois. Whether tending to the land or taking care of their many horses or watching an exciting race, his deep connection to horses was a defining part of his life. His dedication and enthusiasm for horse racing brought him great fulfillment over the years.
More than anything, Patrick treasured his family. He took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of his grandchildren and loved hearing about every detail of their journeys.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta; daughters Michele Metz (Marty) and Nicole Hinkfus (Eric); seven grandchildren-Ryan (Hannah), Patrick (Tess), Michael, Callie, Matthew (Elizabeth), Benjamin, and Ava; and three great-grandchildren, Natalie and Cody and Aurora Clare. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who were dear to him.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Marion Kay; his brother, William Kay; and his sisters Judy Kay and Mary Jane Kuchta.
A Funeral Mass will be held on March 29, 2025, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Columbia, Tennessee. Services will begin at 10:00 AM at 3019 Cayce Ln., Columbia, TN 38401.
Patrick's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy of love for family, hardwork and horses will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
