Mr. Paul A. Meservy, Jr. Mr. Paul Alfred Meservy, Jr., 73, retired U. S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant and resident of the Mooresville Pike, died Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Zion Presbyterian Church with Rev. Arch Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the U. S. Air Force. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the church parlor. He was descendant of the heirs of General Nathaniel Greene, who was awarded a land grant for his services during the Revolutionary War, and sold the land to the pioneer settlers of the Zion Community. His family's roots were in New England, later moving to Hennepin County, Minnesota where he was born the son of the late Paul Alfred Meservy, Sr. and Mary Rose Mikosch Meservy. He served in the U. S. Air Force for 24 years, including duty during the U. S. Military Occupation of Germany; the Korean Conflict; and three tours of duty in Vietnam, retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Mr. Meservy attended Zion Presbyterian Church and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.He was married January 25, 1951 to the former Carolyn Murphy of Maury County, who preceded him in death January 16, 1998.Survivors include two daughters, Terry (Paul) Yielding of Cadiz, Kentucky and Rhonda (Steve) Dahlhauser of Columbia; a son, Steve (Martha) Meservy of Columbia; two sisters, Joyce Pogue of Alexandria, Virginia and Donna Johnson of Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Mary Catherine Yielding, Patrick Thomas Yielding, Kari Elizabeth Meservy, Taylor Renee Dahlhauser, Matthew Wilkes Dahlhauser, Nathan Andrew Yielding, Kadi Lee Meservy, Samuel Davis Dahlhauser and Aaron Daniel Yielding; a special friend, Judy Ring. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Alan Yielding in 1990.Active pallbearers are Joe Moore, Terry Boatright, Steve McMahon, Johnny Andrews, Howard Anderson, Wayne Voss and Donald Flowers. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Rand Hayes, Dr. Amit Choksi and staffs, Charlie Vaughn, M. J. Harmon, George Horne and Bobby Tidwell.
