Paulette Dowell Brown, 81, retired claims representative for the Social Security Administration, and resident of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at her residence.
A private graveside service for Mrs. Brown will be conducted at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday, January 20, 2025 from 3:00 PM till 5:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Born April 30, 1943 in Columbia, TN, she was the daughter of the late John Paul Dowell and the late Mary Marie McDonald Dowell. On April 27, 1963, she married Raymond Ashley Brown. Mrs. Brown enjoyed cooking for her friends and family, working in her flower garden, and feeding her birds, squirrels, and deer. She was talented at counted cross stitching, making beautiful floral, beach, and angel patterns. Mrs. Brown was very athletic and an avid runner when her health allowed, and loved horseback riding. She was an avid fan of the UT Vol’s girls basketball team. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Carolyn (David) Cheek; brother, John Edward Dowell; niece, Tracey (Marty) Peery; nephew, Briant (Jayme) Cheek; great-nieces and great-nephew, Chesley (Tyler) Lowery, Houston Cheek, and Caroline Cheek; and great-great-nephew, Lux David Lowery.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Todd Brown.
Active pallbearers will be Danny Moser, Sam Barnes, Kent Langley, and Roger Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers will include Rita Hamilton, Gary Ledbetter and Dr. Lucy Ledbetter, Dr. Clyde Heflin and Jodi Heflin, Dr. Gibran Naddy, Robert Hight, Leanna Langley, Buddy Marshall, Tom and Sylvia Glenn, Stu, Mitch and Susan Tinney, Charles and June Beckum, Enoch and Phyllis George, Patsy Wilson, Ms. Mary Jones, Gail Gilliam, Bill and Jodi Wood, Tony Johnson, Whitney Johnson, Allene Lovell, Richard Ries, Frank and Shirley Nichols, Cheryl Howell Martin, George A. Horne Jr, and Kim Johnston.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Lucy Ledbetter, Dr. Gibran Naddy, Dr. Mark Messenger, Dr. J. Matthew Hassan, Logan Easterday, NP, Dr. Stacie Vallejo, Dr. Amit Choksi, Dr. Cory Calendine, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at Williamson County Medical, especially her nurses Jana, Sarah, and Chris for all the love and care they gave and kept Mrs. Paulette going in her later years.
