Pedro Ignacio Espaillat, Jr., 20, senior airman with the U. S. Air Force, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, in Kirkuk, Iraq. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 2790 Pulaski Highway, Columbia, with Rev. Mike Dawson and Rev. Angel Ortiz officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3 PM until time of service at the church. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force. Burial will be in the Dominican Republic. A native of the Dominican Republic, he was the son of Pedro Ignacio Espaillat, Sr. and Maria Espaillat. He had made his home in Maury County since 1993 and graduated with honors from Spring Hill High School in 2001, 38th out of a class of 228. He was a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is survived by four brothers, Jose Espaillat of the Dominican Republic; Richard Espaillat and Kennie Espaillat, both of Columbia; Joshua Forbes of Indiana; and his girlfriend, Claritza Cepeda of North Carolina.
