View Funeral Service WebcastMrs. Peggie Sue Gilbert Tomlin, 76, retired sales associate at Gordon's Jewelers and former resident of Figures Avenue, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Adair officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the Highland Park Baptist Church General Fund, 1800 Highland Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Warren County native was the daughter of the late Quim Leverne Gilbert and Sophia Otilia Grissom Gilbert Dunnaway. On June 27, 1950, she married Robert "Bobby" Leonard Tomlin who preceded her in death on September 6, 2004. She was a 1950 graduate of Central High School in Murfreesboro. Mrs. Tomlin was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and the Sunshine Sunday School Class. Survivors include one daughter, Belinda Tomlin Bell of Columbia; two grandchildren, Todd (Alicia) Bell of Lookout Mountain, Georgia; Jennifer Bell (Todd) Barbee of Mt. Juliet; two great grandchildren, Macey Bell and Blaze Bell, both of Lookout Mountain, Georgia; one brother, Edward Bryant (Marie) Gilbert of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law, Helen Gilbert of Murfreesboro; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Jerry Wayne Bell; and two brothers, Richard Leverne Gilbert and Melvin Glynn Gilbert. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class at Highland Park Baptist Church and staff at NHC Hillview Health Care.
