Mrs. Perre Coleman Hutton MacFarland, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at her residence in Columbia. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the residence. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Dr. Bill Williamson officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are handling arrangements.In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to First Presbyterian Church, 801 South High Street, Columbia 38401 or the James K. Polk Memorial Association, 303 West 7th Street, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com.She was born September 20, 1917 in Columbia to the late Pierre Coleman and Josiah Lawson Hutton. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Randolph Macon Women's College.In 1939, she married Lonsdale Porter MacFarland, Jr. of Wilson County, who died in 1994. While he was serving in Europe with the 5th Armored Division during World War II, Mrs. MacFarland returned to Columbia, where he joined her after the war to practice law and serve as president and chairman of Middle Tennessee Bank.A life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church, she is survived by two daughters, Perre MacFarland Magness of her husband, Percy, of Memphis, and Lonsdale MacFarland Green and her husband, Kelly, of Columbia. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Lon MacFarland (Ragan) Magness and Perre Coleman Magness of Memphis, Lonsdale Green (Torin) Koester of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Andrew Devlin Green of Columbia; and three great-grandchildren.
