Reared in the Ridley Community near Mt. Pleasant, Phil was a 1958 graduate of Hay Long High School. In June 1963, he married Nancy Ann Jones Lindsey who preceded him in death October 23, 1977. On December 28, 1979, he married Sandra Gibson Alderson Lindsey who survives. After a twenty-plus-year career as an electrician with Stauffer Chemical Company which was later acquired by Zeneca, he retired at the age of 50 in 1991. Retirement gave him a chance to follow his passion for farming, his favorite occupation. Cutting, raking and baling hay for himself and others was most pleasurable. He raised Black Angus cattle and enjoyed watching them graze in the field. Mr. Lindsey loved working in his wood-working shop and made furniture for friends and family. An admirable man, he loved his family and friends, always offering help in any way he could. He was a Colonel and life member of the Columbia Jaycees, a member of the Wagon Wheelers Square Dance Club; and a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Gibson Alderson Lindsey of Columbia; sons, Michael Wesley (Amy) Lindsey and Eddie (Andrea) Alderson, both of Columbia; daughter, Julie Alderson (Rickey) Savage of Columbia; sisters, Judy Lindsey (Tommy) Wolaver and Jane Lindsey Bailey, both of Mt.
