ERNESTINE HAWKINS GODWIN Mrs. Rachel Ernestine Hawkins Godwin, 72, former longtime resident of the Santa Fe Community, died Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Wallace and Rev. Jimmy Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Ernest Hawkins and Jewell Walters Hawkins. She was married to Arvel Lee Godwin who preceded her in death on March 24, 1999. Mrs. Godwin was a member of Craft United Methodist Church and the Mynders FCE. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Arnette (Greg) Zapel of Columbia; two grandchildren, Mrs. Stephanie (Kevin) Huffman of Columbia; Phil (Jan) Sutherland of Santa Fe; five great grandchildren, Jacob Huffman, Rachel Sutherland, Megan Huffman, Aidan Huffman and Lane Sutherland; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Geneva (Wayne) Walters of Columbia; Mrs. Norma Jean Godwin of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Claude Johnson, Henry Warf, Lloyd Edward Warf, Frank Dodson, Jack Gaskill, and Bobby Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be members of John McIntyre Sunday School Class and men of Craft United Methodist Church.
